Honesty Is Stupid

Taxi driver finds $17,000 left behind by a passenger. Taxi driver can't pay hospital bills for his sick wife. Taxi driver owes rent. Taxi driver returns money. Taxi driver's reward? $32.

An old local news item I happened to chance upon. Irony for the masses!!!

Perfect Scores In An Exam

I just got my end year pay for this year. I tried to assess if I can pay my whole credit card bill so that I can start fresh next year and by something for my self. Of course, Priorities first and that would be Erin and the electric bill. Her mom has been very consistent in letting me know what she needs (thank god!) so I bought her what she asked and little something for her and Erin (Sometimes!). I scooted over there thinking they'd be there since it's a holiday. It's been a while since I last saw Erin. She's put on some weight which I'm happy for but what got me really psyched was that she got perfect scores in all her exams!

My god! That was really something. I knew she was smart and everybody keeps telling me it has to be the genes. Whose genes? I don't know.

I've never aced a whole set of exams ever and it seems that most of everything I hope for came through. It's nice to know that your offspring is doing better than you. I'm so proud of her I just might get her what she wants for christmas!

Choices

I've finally achieved forgetting most of what I knew in computing. I think I'm ready to take on Linux now and re-learn everything from the ground up. First, I need a decent desktop. As in my previous post Im still deciding what to do.

Choice, choices, choices.

It's hard when you want to do several things all at the same time.

Work has been a bitch. I haven't seen anyone for almost a month. I miss conversations (Intellectual, Interesting, Intriguing), I miss the people I haven't seen in a while (Guys, when are you coming back to this side of the world?)

I miss a lot of things. Sheesh!

When Movie Titles Really Mean Something

Well, it seems you can make up new phrases when you put different movie titles together. Here's a sample....

Pretty freaky if you ask me. What's up with this? What the hell would the outcome be?

Fuck it! Im just pretty bored right now.

The Orgasalarm!

Car alarms probably annoy you. Certainly, they annoy me. I understand the reason for their existence, but some of them seem to be so finicky that just a truck driving by will set them off. Fortunately (or,unfortunately, depending on your point of view), there's the Orgasalarm If you're at work, you're definitely going to want to turn the sound down. (It would be awesome with women though, You know you're doing great in bed!)

Almost 36 Hours...

Since 10 AM yesterday morning I haven't slept...literally.

I've lost the knack to sleep. I planned to get some shuteye before logging off from work but somehow every case I handle suddenly make themselves urgent.

Since sleeping was out of the question, I just readied myself to go to my former officemates kid's baptism.

I saw a few old faces and it seems my rep is still stuck in some of the people I used to work with. There was this pretty girl who I knew only by face and she didn't know me well except by reputation. I remember because she was stunning.

She is now a few weeks or months pregnant and me still being tactless from lack of sleep simply blurted out that she was still stunning and albeit she did gain a bit she still was pretty. I don't exactly know what came over me but well at least I think I made her day.

Pretty, a word I rarely use nowadays. I think it's true what one of my former dates say. I guess I am a bit choosy. Perhaps I've set my standards to high which is why I can never settle for just anyone. It seems it has to be someone. Well, it's the selfishness in me breaking through the cage of ignorance I've formed a little more than a decade ago. Bah! I think too much! I'll leave it to fate in terms of relationships.

Anyhoo, I did meet a few new people. New blood of the company working in various support groups. My friend jokingly asked if I wanted to come back to the company and add myself to the corporate hierarchy. I thought about it and it depends on what they are offering. I'm content where I am but I'd love to be at a better position or whatever I can get.

Well, there's always time. We'll see what happens. Now, I really need to sleep!

In Between Choices

Should I go for the new Treo 680, the recently introduced iPod Touch, a macbook notebook, a digital camera or a new desktop?

13th month pay is just 2 weeks away. I haven't really decided yet. I still have to pay my credit card bill (in full!) so that I can start fresh next year and take advantage of the PayLite plan.

Got any suggestions? Let me know.

I Think I'm Going To Be Sick

I've already had an uneasy feeling (No, not the period you dumbshit). It was after my last date that wasn't really that impressive. We just had dinner at Cafe Adriatico and was supposed to get drinks at Blue Room in Malate.

The latter was closed due to the liquor ban so we opted for Cowboy Grill. (It's my first time actually and it wasn't as bad as I expected). My date was really quiet, not really impressed with her. I ditched her around 11PM and took her home.

I was bored. The band playing sucked the drinks tasted like really cold water and we were sitting just in front of the AC. It was really bad, I've had worse but I was expecting something better.

I think it was because of last night that I caught a nasty cold. Heat and cold have been besting each other, Imposing themselves on an already very chaotic weather pattern.

I hate it.

I still have to be at work tonight, I really need to sleep.

I'll try turning in early today before the sun rises and I seriously need to buy some medicine as a preventive measure.

Dating Older Women (A Perspective)

Have you ever dated a woman more than a year older than you?

I just did.

Is there are a difference you ask? Nope, no difference at all. I can't say I am an expert but I did enjoy myself and she says she enjoyed my company. The date started off with coffee at Figaro (Yum!). She actually could not believe that I stood at a little more than 5 feet. She is a standing 5'7" in case I forgot to mention, fair complexion, voluptuous, and very eye catching. She was very hesitant at first simply because this was all a blind date setup by a friend and she never really knew me as we do not hang on the same social circles.

It was just a chance date as I had nothing to do last night. We talked about stuff, where she worked, what I did, hobbies, politics, opinions on relationships, religious views, etc, etc. This is what I like when I date women older than me. They usually have a lot of things to say about almost everything. It wasn't annoying mind you but finally I was getting a decent conversation going.

We decided on dinner at Italliani's as we had nothing in particular for that night. A light dinner really with some appetizers and the main course was just plain breaded blue marlin. When we started eating I started to eat a bit more than I intended to. She was pretty impressed by my appetite for such a "slim guy" as she commented. We wolfed down almost everything except the dry bread they serve while you wait for the e
ntrées you ordered.

We talked a bit more then she asked if I drink. I told her I don't drink that much and I can become very rowdy when I've had too much. She said she was in the mood for a couple of bottles. I asked her where shall we have drinks, she suggested the Blue Room in Malate. I thought for a moment and told myself, "Why not? When was the last time you've been there? Gay never took you there when you shared her apartment last year..." I agreed.

We hopped on a taxi and we actually got a little lost. We kept on driving around when apparently the bar was just nearby. We opted to walk.

We were walking and she probably felt a bit comfy as she held my arm as if we were dating for weeks and it became a regular thing. All of a sudden, we heard a girl shout my name...

We gasped and turned around to look. I thought the girl who shouted my name was looking at me then suddenly she turned her eyes to a different direction. I was shocked, I thought it was one of those people I knew from my past who suddenly remembered me. I of course did not want to spoil my date by having another girl for company. Frankly, I was glad it wasn't us she was looking at but someone who had a similar name.

Phew

My date asked me if I went to Malate often, I told her no. I was a Makati goer myself but I do dabble in Malate once in a while when me and my other social cirlce wanted to hook up with chicks. I looked at her and I think she had a glint of jealousy in her eyes. I laughed it off and told her that of course that life is over. I haven't picked anyone up for almost a year. Im busy with work and I happen to be very serious about it, I told her.

We entered the bar and found a very dark corner where we could talk. I myself am not a big fan of noisy bars. I prefer the homey, smooth kind of place you-can-hear-each-other-without-shouting venue when having drinks with a date. I don't dance but I've heard that I got drunk once and actually danced pretty decently back in high school. Just rumor really, There is no documented proof and most of the eyewitnesses have flocked west towards greener pastures.

Well, again we talked. While we ordered drinks, she had a couple of beers and I had a Vodka tonic (Which wasn't really bad!). We talked some more and then she just leaned forward, I just thought she wanted to take a whiff of the cologne I've been wearing (Davidoff's Cool Water, baby!) then she suddenly pressed her lips against mine. I don't know why but I kissed back.

I don't know how long that was but we were pretty much isolated under a very opaque light so I guess nobody noticed. She smiled a very naughty smile....

I kept thinking the kiss wasn't bad but I've kissed better.

I looked at her eyes, trying to read what was on her mind but alas, I did not have my glasses on so I kept mum about what just transpired. She just kept on staring at me and it was something like 10 seconds we weren't really talking. I leaned forward and kissed her again and there was no resistance. It was actually more enthusiastic....

Aaahhh, that much better...

So, she said that I kissed pretty good. I rebutted saying I didn't even have practice but hey thanks for the complement. We talked again and a few other things happened as the night stretched on...

Let's just say we parted around 5am in the morning with smiling, satisfied faces. She asked me if we would go out again. I told her I'd check but hey it's been a very great evening with her.

She kissed me again and gave a really tight hug. I dropped her off at her home and she just squeezed my hand a bit. I told her that she made the date awesome and she was very pretty. She thanked me for the wonderful dinner and company and she ended with a let's do this again next time. I said of course. She turned her back and just before she closed the door, she just looked at me smiling and then the door clicked.

Well, that's a wrap on this date. Let's see what else happens on the next. I've got a few lined up but I am not sure if anything can top this night!

Got any older women dating experiences to share? Post a comment and let's compare notes!

Someone Hates The Classics

I am not even sure how long this club has been listening to the songs. They made their point that they hate the classics. Someone be wary of the bartender with a shotgun underneath the bar just before you start playing the songs.

You have been warned!

Perhaps the club prefers All My Life by America? Faithfully by Journey? Is that the bartender reaching for something underneath the bar....?

*BANG*

Street Fighter: Now Ported To Etch-A-Sketch

Etch-A-Sketch.

It's a kids toy.

Made for entertaining kids by allowing them to draw in an erasable sheet for whatever purposes their creative minds can come up with.

Then some adult thought up a more complicated way of using the patented Etch-A-Sketch of the Ohio Art Company and turned up the heat on the very-hard-to-get-into Modern Art world....

Now, If they could create the Persistence Of Memory by Salvador Dali in a colored version of Etch-A-Sketch that would be a real nice conversation piece in the home!

Work Smarter Not Harder (Not Just A Bumper Sticker)

It's something we're all looking for -- the perfect solution that will minimize our work life while still getting the stuff done that we need to get done. Well, that one solution doesn't exist, but with a combination of strategies, you can get to where you want to be.

I've read through the article and I deem it very applicable to time-bound workloads, just like mine. Although in my field of work, we control how we manage our time it could be better used with these tips and may just light up that bulb in your head with an awesome strategy to get work done.

Time management is an issue with most people and I guess this might help if it is practiced religiously. Once you get the hang of it there'd be more time to goof off!

27 Skills Your Child Needs To Know That She’s Not Getting In School

"What follows is a basic curriculum in life that a child should know before reaching adulthood. There will probably be other skills you can add to this list, but at least it’s a starting point."

When I found this, it could be useful to starting parents. Now, don't ask me for advice on this. I don't think I am qualified to answer questions regarding kids (despite having my own in a complicated way)

Hope this helps.

I'm Sorry. I Was So Busy Yesterday...

The title was a message sent from the mother of my daughter via SMS.

How would you feel if you already agreed and you tried to trust the person to live up to that agreement and get shot down every time this happens? It's a simple thing to let the other person know right? Perhaps a few more details would be better, but No, she'd rather be selfish and I cannot afford to be selfish to anyone who rely on me. If I did they would fall apart and I would have incurred more resources to be fulfilled in a few ways. I chose the former because I feel that I am needed but once I give up, I would really give up.

It sucks right? It may or may not have happened to you but it always happens to me. There is always an excuse. It's like playing with a spoiled kid who never wants to be "it" in a game of tag. She always wants to win.

Mos people still think I am irresponsible because I do not prioritize her and they criticize me for it. Gee, apparently we live in a very biased world where fact is considered fiction and your facade matters. Of course, I am stating the obvious. I'm sure people know about it, they just refuse to talk about it, acknowledge it, and change it.

Bah! I am just venting out. I think I still have the patience for it. For how long, that's a different story.

Screw it. I'll have to get ready, my daughter is more important to me. Even if she never knows it.

I'll just have to suck it up and take it like a real father.

I wish I could be one for her someday....

Two Decades & 364 Days Old

Ha ha ha ha ha

It is going to be a few minutes before the hands on the clock align themselves, pointing at the top....

What does it mean?

I wonder myself, why do the arms point upwards when it is time to signify the next day. Bah, it's nothing really to worry about, I'll figure it out later.

I've been smoking like hell (nothing really new about that, eh?) as I was supposed to go out on a date setup by my friend the single mom. It didn't happen obviously as my date caught the sniffles. It's quite alright for me. I've had a few dates cancel on me before and we can always reschedule. I am on leave this week, thanks to the kindness of my boss and his boss, so I have enough time to do whatever. I've been waking up feeling better and better and I finally see people....

People.

Real People.

People going to work looking fresh from the shower and smell wonderful.

People holding hands as if they are making sure they are waking up from a dream together in bed.

Here is something I've noticed just recently. The real pretty ones go out in the day and hide in their homes most of the night. A possible migration pattern of hot ones or coincidence? We will prove that theory later.

It is times like these I wish I had a camera. Yes, a digital prosumer edition that can last longer. That would be awesome, wouldn't it?

I can post a lot post pictures of this blog and you can see what I see. Come to think of it I do have a lot of plans but everything is on hold till we get Erin's educational plan done.

I can't wait till next year and see if I've made the changes I wanted to make. I also dread next year because I will be 3 decades surviving this turn of the wheel of life.

Now, back to my theory of migrating hotties around. Yes, apparently the cream of the crop still live majority of their lives during the day and they party at night. I've seen them, for people who have not gone out much this past year or so I would suggest that you do if you are interested in hooking up with someone. I usually do it with a wingman by my side. Casually introducing myself alone to these normal peeps are kind of awkward as they normally flock in groups. It must be a cultural thing as they are rarely seen alone seeking new companionship outside.

Now, where do we find people as lonely as I or with low self-esteem (but big ego's just like me!)?

Single bars are pretty much non-existent or I have never uncovered such a nest in the social gatherings I've been. There is simply not enough time for me to search. Maybe next year when I can afford a longer leave and when I can make ends meet for the people who rely in me.

Nevertheless, a minute and a few seconds more to go....

I can't wait for what's in store for me on the next few days...

Tower Of Babble (V.001beta)

Since Monday last week, I have been meeting with a friend. A single mom struggling to make ends meet and attempts to keep her kids close to her as much as possible. We usually just gab about random stuff but it always boils down to one thing, relationships. She always has issues with her last beau (who is the father of her last child to boot!). If I am not mistaken they have already broken up after a couple of years of missed opportunities to create a family. Well, things had to break down eventually if none of them would cooperate. I tried cooperating a few times on my own but as I told her I think pride has it's own pedestal and chose me to get out of the situation, not that I had a choice but I was never a really convincing person.

Everybody keeps asking why I got out of the situation yet continue to shell out for my kid. I love my kid, it's simple as that. I can only do so much though and I am sure that eventually I will be at the losing end but it does not matter. I've already prepared myself for the fact that soon enough, I will be ignored, unrecognized, and even forgotten. I will not be surprised, in fact, I am half-expecting it to happen.

I always tell my friend the single mom that they are lucky as they had the benefit of being together and they watched their kid grow up together. I would have given a lot to experience that but alas I am very unlucky. For most people, it is indeed a sad tale but so far I have never shed a tear, simply because I can't cry now matter how much I try. It would be a nice, seething feeling to get everything off your chest once in a while but that was already taken away from me. I am so full of emotions, I can't seem to distinguish which is which.

I think I am empty.

I think I am just pretending to be

I think I am lost

My friend made a comment saying I am lonely. Well, I always have been so that is nothing really new. I do have friends but I do not have anything to call my own. In fact, I am actually surprised how I got through everything on my own without anyone actually helping me. I was told I was a real tough nut to crack and 'till now that hasn't really sinked in yet.

I plan on changing this way of life. It's about time I did. It has to be gradual though. I plan on eliminating all (or at least most) of the debts that were made under my name before the year ends. I'm getting my daughter an educational plan as most likely the last thing I can give her that she can use and slowly be an obscure figure of her past. By that time she may already be recognizing someone else as her father figure (Like I said, I half-expect a lot of things to happen). Nevertheless, I am proud to say that I at least supported my daughter in some way. Tell me how many people do that without asking for anything? I believe my daughter is that lucky that I didn't bail on them and I was never given the chance to choose or at least the opportunity to work on it. Like I said, they are lucky but luck can last only as long....

Now, it is about time I have to be selfless to myself not to others anymore, I am alone and will probably always will be. It's a path that was laid before me and I dared myself to struggle on the least used path that only few have chosen.

Perhaps then, things will be better.

We will see...

Flesh & Stupidity In An Ad That Forgot To Get It Plugged

Here is proof that the world of advertising is never perfect and is still subject to the many possible flaws that other industries may have. Mistakes can happen but that is no the point of this post. The point is how blind we can be to a little flesh and a little more stupid by being flashed with the latest and greatest. I'll not write further and would just simply ask you to stare at the picture enough and you just might be a bit smarter (Emphasis on the just might...):

Got it?

Enough Said!

Launching A Mini Cooper (For Fun & Profit)

As previously mentioned on a recent post, I've always encountered very entertaining advertising when I browse. Here's another one created by Orange Barrel Media for Mini Cooper. Now, I would really want one of these cars despite my lack of enthusiasm for mechanical transportation. Truth to tell, I do not care for driving around a gas-guzzler that pollutes the atmosphere, creates traffic in the local highway but then convenience is always a big factor when one wants to arrive to their destination of choice in a timely and safe (Well sort of...) manner. Frankly, I'd wait for a more fuel efficient and environmentally safe car but my life is a short one besides, I'm moving off topic, This Ad rocks!

Ooops! Sorry For Spilling Paint On Your Car....

I've always thought that advertising would have been a very interesting field to work in. I've met a few people that have dabbled in the advertising industry or would at least have loved to work there. It is indeed a very competitive industry, though. Only the most creative and silver-tongued can survive the battle of cost versus delivering the message to a target market versus creativity versus implementation to a great idea and put it all in various types of media like the picture on the inset.

When I think about the best advertising I've seen so far, it was the old Globe Handyphone commercial. I cant seem to remember the official title of that less-than-30 second ad but it was about a couple sending SMS messages between each other setting up for a date. The reason why they were sending SMS to each other via their huge mobile phones (back then they were considered small) was apparently they were bereft of the gift of speech. Dude, that really stoked me up and it inspired to aspire to be a better writer (despite years of hiatus and off/on inspiration). I remember when I learned that the mother of my daughter was pregnant, I actually sent out an application to one of the popular agencies to become a copywriter but they politely declined my advances. I thought back then maybe it wasn't for me until I saw this.

Maybe I should give it another shot? Perhaps or perhaps not. Now, I am not in the position to take a risk. I still have a daughter to support and another family to help rise from debt and poverty. When I think about it, I am sometimes glad Erin isn't with me. She doesn't have to go through what the rest of the world goes through but I do miss her and wish I could be there but alas, a choice was made on her behalf. Oh well, that's the way the paint spills, just like the Ad; Subtle, creative, and leaves an impression that you either have to learn or it will just keep reminding you.

I seriously need to try again and sleep, I've been awake for a good 22 hours already and I'm risking a good night's sleep just to write this.

Thanks for reading and enjoy!

Workstation Confessionals

I came to work one night, tired as the dead itching for a cigarette

You passed me by shining like a soft light with that oh so beautiful smile

It made me ache for human touch, a warmth not felt for years in this tired old soul

It made me feel that warm glow that has lived in ice for so long

I kept watch over it and tried to fan it, first it was too strong and I blew it away

You smiled again, i tried to keep it away from the ice surrounding my soul

It died down eventually

I think I need you to keep that warm glow, I am happier with you when you are there to keep me warm

I still know not your name, I try not to date inside the office but it lessens the chance of seeing someone like you

I am confused on how to approach this, by god this is so difficult, a choice between principle & selfish reasons

It is never simple, we are always in danger and risk is life and life risks us.
